Catherine Elizabeth Middleton was born on January 9, 1982, in Reading, Berkshire. Her parents, Michael Middleton and Carole (née Goldsmith), were a flight dispatcher and flight attendant at British Airways, respectively. Catherine is the eldest of three, and her younger siblings are Philippa (Pippa) and James.

She grew up in the village of Bucklebury, where her parents home is still to this day.
Catherine was educated at Marlborough College, where she became captain of the hockey team. Catherine enrolled at St. Andrews University in 2001. Within her first year, she met Prince William, who was also attending the university. Their friendship blossomed into a relationship. She graduated with a degree in art history in 2005.

The couple spent many years dating and getting Catherine accustomed to royal life and protocols. Their engagement was announced in November 2010.They married on April 29, 2011, in Westminster Abbey. The Queen announced they would be known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.The couple has three children: Prince George (born in 2013.), Princess Charlotte (born in 2015.), and Prince Louis (born in 2018.).
After their marriage, they were titled the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

When the Crown passed to King Charles in September 2022 (due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II), William and Catherine became the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Catherine is a patron of many foundations and has a vested interest in mental health advocacy, medical alternatives, the military, early learning, and childhood development.
She is a keen photographer, cook, beekeeper, pianist, and sportswoman.
Every Christmas, she hosts a Carols by Candlelight evening and is part of the Wimbledon Tennis Association, the English Rugby Union, and the Rugby League, to name a few.
