Who is Queen Camilla.
Queen Camilla is the wife of King Charles III and the current queen consort of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. She was born Camilla Rosemary Shand on July 17, 1947 in London, England.Camilla had an on-and-off romantic relationship with Charles, Prince of Wales, both before and during their first marriages. She married British Army officer Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973, with whom she had two children, Tom and Laura. They divorced in 1995.
After a very public scandal surrounding her affair with Charles while he was married to Diana, Princess of Wales, Camilla eventually gained public acceptance. She married Charles in a civil ceremony in 2005. Upon the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022, Camilla automatically became queen consort when Charles acceded as King Charles III.
Camilla was crowned as Queen Camilla at Charles’s coronation on May 6, 2023, the first British coronation in 70 years. As queen consort, she carries out royal duties and engagements and is patron of numerous charities, notably those related to osteoporosis, literacy, animal welfare, and victims of sexual assault.Sources:
